چکیده
Sunitha.S.L and V.Udayashankara Abstract— Hearing impairment is the number one chronic disability affecting many people in the world. Background noise is particularly damaging to speech intelligibility for people with hearing loss especially for sensorineural loss patients. Several investigations on speech intelligibility have demonstrated that sensorineural loss patients need 5-15 dB higher SNR than the normal hearing subjects. This paper describes a practical approach using adaptive complex transformation filtering for sensorineural impairment to improve the SNR of the speech signal. The computer simulated results show superior convergence characteristics of the adaptive complex transformation algorithm by improving the SNR at least 7dB for input SNR‘s less than and equal to 0 dB, with 120 convergence ratio, better t ime and frequency characteristics.

Different researchers have presented three approaches in various terms for modeling competency such as adaptive approach, adaptive-design approach, and design approach. Top-down and bottom-up approach is another division of competency modeling. Methodology: The p...
متن کاملFrequency Estimation of Unbalanced Three-Phase Power System using a New LMS Algorithm
This paper presents a simple and easy implementable Least Mean Square (LMS) type approach for frequency estimation of three phase power system in an unbalanced condition. The proposed LMS type algorithm is based on a second order recursion for the complex voltage derived from Clarke's transformation which is proved in the paper. The proposed algorithm is real adaptive filter with real parameter...
متن کاملTRANSTYMPANIC ELECTROCOCHLEOGRAPHY FOR EVALUATION OF MENIERE\'S DISEASE
35 patients with unilateral sensorineural impairment and hearing levels within the normal range in the opposite ears were investigated by bilateral transtympanic electrocochleography (TIECoG). Only 19 patients (54%) satisfied the criteria for Meniere's disease and 16 patients (46%) showed sensorineural impairment due to other etiologies. Clinical studies have focused exclusively on the a mp...
متن کاملThe B"{a}cklund transformation method of Riccati equation to coupled Higgs field and Hamiltonian amplitude equations
In this paper, we establish new exact solutions for some complex nonlinear wave equations. The B"{a}cklund transformation method of Riccati equation is used to construct exact solutions of the Hamiltonian amplitude equation and the coupled Higgs field equation. This method presents a wide applicability to handling nonlinear wave equations. These equations play a very important role in mathemati...
متن کاملAdaptive Tunable Vibration Absorber using Shape Memory Alloy
This study presents a new approach to control the nonlinear dynamics of an adaptive absorber using shape memory alloy (SMA) element. Shape memory alloys are classified as smart materials that can remember their original shape after deformation. Stress and temperature-induced phase transformations are two typical behaviors of shape memory alloys. Changing the stiffness associated with phase tran...
